Angelorum Recioto Della Valpolicella. Masi. Though run by the Boscaini family for six generations, it is really in the last fifty years that Masi has established itself as one of the Veneto’s most innovative wine producers. In the late 1950s, they identified certain historic vineyard plots which are vinified as Amarone and bottled separately to this day. In 1964, they launched the now-legendary Campofiorin, which revived the technique of a second fermentation with semi-dried grapes. Masi have also rescued the ancient Oseleta variety from extinction, and continue to use it in two of their celebrated “Supervenetian” wines. The grapes come from Masi vineyards in the hills of the historic Valpolicella Classico zone in the communes of Marano, Negrar and Sant’Ambrogio. The soil is red calcareous sediments with cretaceous marl. The different grape varieties were harvested separately at optimum ripeness.

TASTING NOTES
A decadent nose of kirsch-soaked cherries leads to a rich, complex palate that is full of fruit, relatively sweet, yet balanced by a persistent freshness that cleanses the mouth ready for the inevitable next sip.
FOOD PAIRING
Excellent as an after-dinner wine. Good with country-style desserts and with fruit, tarts, pastries and panettone. Good also with gorgonzola cheese.
