Bannockburn Bridge Pinot Noir. Central Otago, NZ

Bannockburn Bridge Pinot Noir. Central Otago, NZ. A beautiful lake now covers what was once a raging river in a deep gorge, the river posing a big challenge to the hordes of gold miners who flocked to this uninhabited area in 1862. The first of five Bannockburn bridges built in 1874 opened the way for massive amounts of gold to cross the river here, though today’s bridge provides access to a different kind of treasure: the fruit from some of Central Otago’s best Pinot Noir districts. This wine exemplifies the purity, balance and succulence that has made the region’s reputation. The vines are grown in the Cromwell Basin area of Central Otago, New Zealand.
