Coopers Creek was established by Andrew and Cynthia Hendry in 1980 with the aim of producing the very highest quality wines, principally in dry styles and reflecting New Zealand’s outstanding cool climate viticultural conditions. The Coopers Creek label first appeared in 1982, since when they have continued to develop their vineyards, extend the range, and advance their reputation as one of the best performing and most eclectic medium-sized New Zealand wineries.

Tasting Notes

This wine is bursting with crystal clear aromas of citrus, spice and flowers. On the palate, there is a lemony backbone rounded out with a tiny bit of fruit sweetness. The character of the wine carries through to the direct, pure finish.

The fruit here is sourced mainly from a top site at Spring Creek on the Wairau Plains, supplemented by a small parcel at the mouth of the Omaka Valley. The soil features alluvial deposits over a rocky subsoil, which promotes slower ripening and thus greater intensity of flavour. Only free-run juice is collected, to preserve purity of fruit, and this juice is collected in Marlborough before being taken to the winery.
